Oman has launched the Digital Educational Atlas of the Sultanate of Oman at GeoAdvances 2026 in Salalah, marking a significant step toward integrating geospatial technologies into education.
Developed by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the University of Technology Malaysia and the University of Dhofar, the digital platform brings together geography, history, digital data and spatial technologies to create a more interactive learning experience.
The atlas is designed to strengthen studentsโ analytical and spatial thinking, connect classroom learning with real-world digital applications and develop future-ready skills. The wider conference features 71 scientific projects from Omani and international researchers across 12 themes.
The initiative also supports Oman Vision 2040 by encouraging data-driven decision-making, applied learning, sustainable development and greater use of modern geographic information systems across education.
