Oman is taking another step toward digital transformation in the legal sector through the โItqanโ initiative, following an agreement between the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs and Omantel to develop a digital environment for legal training.
Researchers at Sultan Qaboos University have mapped a large wedge of seawater entering a coastal aquifer in Al Jifnain, highlighting the growing vulnerability of Omanโs groundwater resources.
Using advanced Transient Electromagnetic (TEM) imaging combined with Laterally Constrained Inversion, researchers were able to distinguish freshwater, saline groundwater and clay layers beneath the area.
The findings could support better groundwater monitoring, extraction management and aquifer recharge, including assessing whether water from Al Jifnain Dam could help protect freshwater reserves.
