Oman is strengthening its domestic manufacturing capabilities with around RO15 million in investments aimed at localising key components used in electrical transformers. The initiative covers 10 investment agreements across Khazaen Economic City, Madayn industrial cities and Sohar Freezone.
The agreements will support seven new factories and additional production lines at two existing factories, with 10 transformer components targeted for local production. Commercial production is expected to begin during 2027 and 2028, covering a combined area of approximately 34,000 square metres.
The projects are based on identified industrial demand and supported by pre-purchase agreements, giving investors clearer visibility of market demand. Four agreements involve Omani SMEs, while six involve local and international companies, bringing specialised industrial expertise and technology into Oman.
