𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐇𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐦𝐬

Kaspersky’s Global Research and Analysis Team has uncovered a new multi-stage malware campaign using torrent downloads disguised as popular films, including The Odyssey. The campaign has been active since at least mid-August 2026, with several hundred victims identified across multiple countries and sectors.

The malware can evade security analysis, establish persistence after a device restart, bypass Windows User Account Control and ultimately provide attackers with remote access. Researchers also found that the malware uses the Solana blockchain to obtain its command-and-control server address, making the infrastructure more difficult to disrupt.
