Oman is taking another step toward smarter and more autonomous logistics, with Asyad Group planning a pilot of autonomous freight vehicles at the Port of Sohar and Salalah Free Zone in partnership with Zelos Technology.

The pilot will test the technology under real operating conditions, with a focus on performance, efficiency, safety and suitability for Oman’s logistics environment. Importantly, this is a controlled pilot rather than a full commercial rollout, with the results expected to guide future expansion decisions.

The autonomous-vehicle initiative forms part of a wider technology push by Asyad. Alongside the driverless freight pilot, the group is exploring low-carbon hydrogen for heavy-duty vehicles and onshore power supply for vessels at Duqm, bringing automation, alternative energy and emissions reduction together within Oman’s logistics ecosystem.
