𝐎𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐓𝐚𝐢𝐰𝐚𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠

Oman is taking another step toward developing its homegrown semiconductor capabilities, with a new cohort of Omani engineering graduates completing hands-on semiconductor training in Taiwan through an MTCIT-supported programme.

The programme began in Muscat with training in semiconductor fundamentals, electronics and chip fabrication processes before participants gained practical exposure to Taiwan’s advanced semiconductor industry.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to establish an Omani semiconductor ecosystem focused on chip design, testing, research and startups, rather than immediately pursuing expensive domestic chip fabrication. MTCIT’s Makeen programme has already reported more than 150 Omani engineers and five startups in its semiconductor track.

Oman is also expanding international partnerships, including specialised chip-design training with India’s Kaynes Technology and additional programmes aimed at developing semiconductor design expertise.
