𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝟖𝟎% 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞

Muscat Governorate has completed more than 80% of street naming and address verification under Oman’s National Addressing Project, marking a major step toward giving homes, businesses and government facilities across the capital a standardised, location-based address.

Field teams have now moved into the physical installation phase, beginning with pilot areas in Quriyat, where crews are surveying locations for street signs before manufacturing and installation. The project is being implemented under the national framework established by Ministerial Decision No. 200/2024.

The new system links addresses to precise geographical coordinates and is designed to integrate with government platforms such as the Unified Municipal System. This could significantly improve emergency response, postal services, deliveries, e-commerce logistics and location-based government services.

Oman is targeting nationwide completion by 2028, with more than 75,000 street and location names already approved across the country. What may look like a simple street-sign project is therefore becoming an important layer of Oman’s digital infrastructure and smart-city ambitions.
